Elder / Theologian in Residence
Doug grew up in Dallas, Texas, graduating from Baylor with an undergraduate degree in 1986 and a graduate degree in 1988. That year he married Andrea, also from Dallas. He received a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Notre Dame in 1998.
Doug has taught full-time on both the graduate and undergraduate levels since 1992. He currently serves as Professor of Theological Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary. He has published articles on various subjects, including divine eternality, popular culture, and public policy. He and Andrea have two children, Katie and Andrew.
As elder at Redemption, Doug shares teaching and preaching responsibilities with Tim. He serves the elders as 'theologian in residence', taking point to guard doctrinal fidelity and assisting the elders to remain aware of theological trends and changes in evangelical life. He desires to see believers grow in their understanding of Christ and the truths of that faith once for all delivered over to the saints. He prays that Redemption will bring glory to God as the Spirit uses its ministries to transform the Father’s children into the image of the Incarnate Son.
