We understand Scripture to indicate that three groups of people share responsibility for leadership and participation in the church: the congregationelders, and deacons

The congregation: Joining a local church involves committing oneself to participating responsibly in her various ministries. Great joy arises from serving together, a joy unique to communities of God’s people. God accomplishes His purposes through local congregations working together for the sake of Christ's kingdom. Elders: Elders serve as our church’s primary leaders. The New Testament presents the elder not as a single authoritarian figure, but rather as a member of a pastoral team. Our church has three elders who share the duties of preaching, teaching, discipling, counseling and caring for members.

Deacons: Deacons coordinate various ministries relating to the logistical needs of the congregation. They oversee particular church ministries (e.g., the nursery), often recruiting volunteers to assist them in ministries. Deacons play an important role in the life of Redemption by serving the congregation and freeing the elders to tend effectively to their various responsibilities.
